Long time employee Jeanette Landers has retired on October 31st after a career at Georgia Tech spanning 30 years.

During her time at Tech, Jeannette worked for the Registrar’s Office working with grades and graduation ceremonies, then archiving records. She then carved out a new position for the Budget Office as the archival records coordinator handling microfilm data. Jeannette enjoyed attending Navy/Marine ceremonies so she applied for a position in Navy ROTC and spent her final 13 years as a Yellow Jacket there.

Jeannette was a presence in many areas on campus. She assisted Homer Rice with his leadership programs. She was often on the sidelines of the Georgia Tech football games during the seasons of Coach George O’Leary and Coach Chan Gailey and she volunteered for the Georgia Tech Baseball Camps. Her signature is one of those under the Tech Tower finial.

Jeannette’ passion is painting using mediums including pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. One of her pieces was displayed at the first annual The Arts@Tech Faculty and Staff Art Exhibit at the Ferst Center for the Arts. She aspires to owning an art gallery to display her work and to publish a children’s book with her own illustrations.

Jeannette also crochets and has donated baby blankets, hats, and booties to area hospitals for newborns. She writes poetry, rides bikes and horses and works in her flower garden.

When asked about her retirement, Jeannette responded, “I look forward to making precious memories with family and friends and making people smile.”

Congratulations, Jeannette! You will be missed by many. Know that you have our best wishes for a fulfilling retirement!
