The "MOOCS and Open Education Around the World" book published last year by Routledge, with contributions from many LMC faculty has been featured in keynote, invited, spotlight, and presidential sessions at four major conferences during the past year:
- The American Educational Research Association (AERA) in DC in April 2016;
- The International E-Learn Conference in New Orleans in October 2014 and Kona, Hawaii 2015;
- The Wisconsin Distance Teaching and Learning Conference in Madison, August 2016, and
- The Association for Educational Technology and Communications (AECT) in Indianapolis in November 2015 and in Las Vegas last week (October 2016).
In addition, on November 4th, the book was given away at a conference at the University of Houston, “Education 20/20: Innovative Teaching and Learning at a Distance”.

The 2016 AECT Division of Distance Learning Book Award is presented in recognition of a print or digital book published within the last three years that describes important theoretical or practical aspects of distance education that can help others involved in distance education or those researching an important aspect of distance education. The primary focus of the book must be directly related to distance education.
