The Game Archaeology Lab was collaboratively founded in 2015 by lead faculty Laine Nooney and Ian Bogost. It is a space for the material and historical study of games and personal computing. The GAL provides an appropriate environment for student- and faculty-directed research and play with digital and analog games, and serves as a hub for academic, industry and enthusiast games and computing communities across Atlanta and beyond. Current research in the GAL focuses on computer and game history, digital preservation, media archaeology and game design.
