NSF’s Discovery Research K-12 program funds projects that aim to enhance teaching and learning about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Dr. Magerko, who heads up Adaptive Digital Media (ADAM) Lab, was awarded this grant to continue developing EarSketch.
This web-based program uses music remixing to teach about computation. By making their own songs with the programming language Python, students learn that computation can be fun and expressive. A primary goal is for EarSketch to be used in AP-level schools and intro computing courses around the country.
