What have you been doing since you graduated?
STEAM Lab Director at Boston Arts Academy

What is your current job? In 2 or 3 sentences, can you explain what your position is and what some of your responsibilities are?
Lead the creation and implementation of a STEAM Laboratory in a space within Boston Arts Academy that is dedicated to interdisciplinary teaching and learning. Engage students, faculty across departments and partnerships in active research, design and creation by utilizing the STEAM lab in order to co-plan and create curriculum, pedagogical innovation, professional development, measurements and assessments.
Keep current with trends and best practices in technology and the arts, introducing and encouraging innovation among faculty, students and partners.

Can you tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on that you were really excited about?
I’m working on a project that explore this concept and combines it with Alexander G. Weheliye’s notion of a “virtual sounding space” that is marked by the circulation of culture via technological reproductions—records and tapes, mixing, and the use of music production centers, or MPCs. We can see and hear this development in ‘sampling’ and ‘remixing,’ common electronic music production techniques in that use purposeful appropriation, repetition, riffs, splices, and interjections from a variety of sources. By using the human senses of touch, sight and hearing, Electrofunk Mixtape uses physical computing and visual imagery to layer conflicting rhythms and effects on top of physical objects such as walls to create complicated sound and image patterns.

How do you think the program helped prepare you for your life after Georgia Tech?
It gave me new strategies and tactics to engage artists and practitioners, especially those from communities underrepresented in digital media/technology. I also established new relationships and partnerships among researchers and practitioners in diverse fields and disciplines.
