Where are you from?
I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but moved to Atlanta in 2010.
Where do you live now?
I currently live in Alpharetta, Georgia.
What have you been doing since you graduated?
I spent a few weeks traveling after I graduated, and then started working full time at Hi-Rez Studios as an Associate Tech Artist.
What is your current job? In 2 or 3 sentences, can you explain what your position is and what some of your responsibilities are?
I currently work at Hi-Rez Studios, an Alpharetta-based video game company. As a Tech Artist for their popular game, SMITE, I am responsible for working with artists and programmers to bring new characters in the game to life.
How do you think the program helped prepare you for your life after Georgia Tech?
The Digital Media program gave me a lot of opportunities to expand on the work I wanted to do while I was still in college. One of these opportunities included the chance to spend time working on a personal video game for my thesis. Once you start a full-time job after college, it becomes very difficult to devote time in your life to working on a large project like that.
Do you have any advice or words of wisdom you would like impart to current or future Digital Media students?
Use this time to pursue your interests and build the skills you’re interested in before you finish your academic career. I took advantage of the ARCHE Cross Registration program offered by Georgia Tech, and this allowed me to take specific classes that weren’t being offered at Tech, but were relevant to the career I was trying to pursue. As a result, I was able to take computer animation classes through SCAD Atlanta’s masters program, while I was still at Georgia Tech. These classes, in addition to the excellent course offerings available in the Digital Media program, ultimately provided me with the skills to land my dream job. I hope that future Digital Media students take advantage of these wonderful opportunities, and make the most of their time in the program.
