Where are you from?
I was born in Bogota, Colombia. My family moved to Miami, Florida when I was seven.

Where do you live now?
I live in Brooklyn, New York.

What have you been doing since you graduated?
I worked as a Creative Designer with Walt Disney Imagineering for 5 years, focusing on designing and developing interactive attractions for their parks and resorts. Currently, I’m an Experience Designer with Moment, a digital product design firm where I’ve been working for almost three years.

What is your current job?
As an Experience Designer in a design consultancy, I work on product definition and strategy as well as interaction design. I do a good amount of research, sketching, wireframing, and prototyping. We work with clients in different industries, which keeps the process fresh. I’m always learning.

Can you tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on that you were really excited about?
I’m currently working on a digital banking product for folks who may have difficulty accessing traditional banking services. I’m learning a ton, and the team I’m working with is great, which makes the process very satisfying. Ultimately though, it’s about the product and the people who will experience it. I eagerly anticipate when our contributions get into their hands.
How do you think the program helped prepare you for your life after Georgia Tech?
The Digital Media program helped me gain a holistic understanding of digital product development. Digital products are complex, and maintaining a holistic perspective is key to balancing all of the variables required to see a product through. It’s also very helpful in communicating with professionals from the various fields that contribute to the process.

Do you have any advice or words of wisdom you would like impart to current or future Digital Media students?
Technology and people are both complex. To succeed as a designer, you’ll need to learn the nuances of working with both, which requires very different skill sets. Also, learn to be comfortable talking with and presenting designs to different kinds of audiences.
