working full time doing Front-End development for GoDaddy
What is your current job? In 2 or 3 sentences, can you explain what your position is and what some of your responsibilities are?
My job title is Software Engineer and I work for GoDaddy. My position involves writing javascript (in the React.js framework), html, and css to build functionality for some of GoDaddy’s products and website
Can you tell us about a recent project you’ve worked on that you were really excited about?
Currently we’re moving our entire codebase over from using jQuery to React. It excites me because it’s part of GoDaddy’s rebranding process since acquiring a new CEO which is good because most people are only familiar with the old brand and consequently resent me for working at GoDaddy. It’s nice to know that I’m working to better the image of the company and remove a lot of technical debt left over from the previous software architecture.
How do you think the program helped prepare you for your life after Georgia Tech?
To be honest it didn’t in a technical/skill set way at all. However, it gave me a master’s degree which set me apart from other candidates, and I believe it gave me an advantage to have knowledge of both coding and design. A ‘creative coder’ if you will.
